Jagalchi Station · Exit 10Walk about 5–8 minutes to Jagalchi Market. Visit Busan lists about 11 minutes from Exit 3 to Bosu Book Street; this is not the walk from a market restaurant. The suggested exit may not be the lift exit. With luggage or mobility needs, prioritise the accessible route.Select the station to check direction-specific timetables, lifts and luggage lockers together.
Last check before you go
Check closures, bookings and weather. With large bags, arrange storage and a collection time before setting out.
Recheck last trains, transfers, works and lift availability.
Check the origin, interchange and destination separately. Maintenance can change the route, so ask station staff for day-of help.
Times vary by line, direction, weekday, weekend and holiday. For a late trip, verify the last possible interchange too.
The map links named places only. Add your chosen restaurant, performance or rest stop separately. Recheck last trains, works and facility outages with the official operator.
Adjust your visit
Seafood or bookshops: decide before you walk
This route connects the Jagalchi waterfront with Bosu-dong’s bookshops. If seafood lunch is the main event, there is no need to force the book street into the same outing.
Give Jagalchi priority for a meal or Bosu-dong for browsing books. This walk compares two different kinds of working market space.
Put bookshops first if they are your priority
Individual Bosu-dong shops keep different hours; do not assume they all stay open into the evening. Browse first, walk down towards BIFF Square, then decide on a Jagalchi meal.
Ask for the total before ordering
Show this Korean question: “손질비와 조리비까지 포함해서 총 얼마인가요?” — “What is the total including preparation and cooking?” Confirm weight, quantity and extras before ordering. You can visit the market without buying seafood.
Heavy rain or a long lunch
Stay in the market building or finish around BIFF Square. The walk to the book street is not an enclosed indoor connection, and wet umbrellas or large bags can be awkward in small shops.
Is this worthwhile if I do not eat seafood?
Yes: compare selling and cooking spaces at Jagalchi with the small-scale browsing and trading of books at Bosu-dong. The value is in two different working districts, not collecting more food stops. Keep aisles clear if you are not buying, and ask before photographing inside shops. Keep coastal night views for a separate Busan coast plan rather than appending them to this short old-town walk.
Check official information before leaving
These are planning suggestions. Follow official notices and on-site signs for current opening and access conditions.
CHAPTER 01
From the waterfront market toward the bookshops
Both places are served by Jagalchi Station, but the market is toward the waterfront and the bookshops are inland.
Starting with the fish market lets you decide how much time lunch deserves before heading to the bookshops. Reverse that order if you arrive late and the shops you want to browse are closing soon. Treat BIFF Square as an optional pause between the two interests, rather than another attraction that must consume a full hour.
Visit Busan describes Bosu Book Street as roughly an 11-minute walk from Jagalchi Station Exit 3. That estimate does not describe the walk from your market restaurant. After eating, set a new destination for 보수동책방골목 and count the crossing and navigation time separately.

CHAPTER 02
Agree on what the seafood price includes
The price of the fish and the cost of eating it at a table are questions to settle separately.
Before choosing, decide how many people will eat and how you want the seafood prepared. Useful questions are: is this per fish or per kilogram; are cleaning and cooking included; what is the total without any extra orders? A price photographed at one stall is not a tariff for the whole market.
If a translated menu is unclear, ask to see the ingredient and cooking method instead of guessing the species. You can browse the market without eating there. Keep the working aisle clear, and separate sightseeing from lunch if raw seafood or uncertain ingredients would make the meal uncomfortable.
CHAPTER 03
Browse the way books are arranged
You do not need to read Korean to notice how different shops organize their collections.
Compare cover design, maps and illustrated books, and look at the relationship between shelves and the narrow pavement. This is not a promise that a particular shop stocks English titles. If you want a specific book, a cover image or the author’s name will communicate more reliably than a loosely translated description.
Busan’s tourism account connects the alley’s beginnings to book trading during the Korean War displacement. Use interpretation boards to understand that history, but do not treat shop names on an old photograph as current listings. Climbing the staircase is optional; browsing the alley does not require an uphill extension.

CHAPTER 04
Choose one book to take from Bosu
Start with a subject, even if you do not read Korean fluently.
Try photography, architecture or cooking, where images can help. A saved cover or title is a clearer starting point than a broad request for foreign-language books. Stock in a particular language or edition is not guaranteed; leave room for discovery.
Ask before opening a book and check its condition and price before buying. Photographing a display is different from copying pages. A note about one book and where you found it can tell a more personal story than another street panorama.
CHAPTER 05
Protect bookshop time before ordering lunch
Check the bookshops you want to visit before settling in for a long lunch.
If a particular shop matters, check it before sitting down to eat. Visit Busan notes that hours vary by store. A general closing time for the street is not a promise that your chosen shop will still be open.
Rather than rushing a meal already ordered, shorten BIFF Square or visit the bookshops another day. Recalculate from the restaurant, not from the station. If you only browse the fish market, you can give the books a larger share of the day.
CHAPTER 06
Plan the journey back with your shopping in mind
Books and food change how comfortable the remaining walk will be.
Ask for food and books to be packed separately. Check storage needs with the seller before adding more walking with perishable food. Buying takeaway is not compulsory; shorten the remaining route if your hands are full.
From Bosu, ask whether you actually need to return to the fish market. Without stored luggage or another errand, plan around your next connection. For a taxi, choose a suitable pickup point and show the real destination address rather than only the district name Jagalchi.
