Last check before you go
Check closures, bookings and weather. With large bags, arrange storage and a collection time before setting out.
Recheck last trains, transfers, works and lift availability.
Check the origin, interchange and destination separately. Maintenance can change the route, so ask station staff for day-of help.
Times vary by line, direction, weekday, weekend and holiday. For a late trip, verify the last possible interchange too.
The map links named places only. Add your chosen restaurant, performance or rest stop separately. Recheck last trains, works and facility outages with the official operator.
CHAPTER 01
Choose which riverbank you are heading for
Put the Geumho River at the center of your map before choosing a route.
Dong-gu’s tourism guide places Dongchon Recreation Area on the Geumho River. Save 해맞이다리 and your actual restaurant alongside the broad recreation-area pin. Near the station on a map is not the same as arriving on the bank you want.
Start with a short section on one side, then decide about crossing. Know whether you will return over the same bridge before continuing along the opposite bank. One side is enough if the crossing or wind is uncomfortable.
CHAPTER 02
Take in the river from Haemaji Bridge
Notice the width of the river and choose somewhere to pause out of the way.
Compare the two banks without blocking movement. A restaurant across the bridge does not oblige you to cross; fatigue and the return connection can justify changing the meal plan.
Check walking and cycle markings before stopping for photographs. Do not approach the water’s edge or lean beyond barriers for reflections. Add an evening view only after establishing the return route and train connection.
CHAPTER 03
Rain ending does not reopen a riverside path
Clearer skies and safe access do not follow the same timetable.
Check weather and district notices before visiting, and obey closed entrances on site. Receding water is not permission to bypass a barrier or take a lower path. Nor should you assume a higher road is safe without checking the open return route.
A restaurant-only visit is an option only when the business and its approach are usable. If surrounding roads are restricted or weather remains unstable, postpone. If you have not found an indoor place to spend time, save this walk for better weather.
CHAPTER 04
Compare both banks from one short pause
Change the viewpoint before extending the distance.
From public walking space, compare water, bridge and buildings across the river. A reflection and its source can make one specific image. Check pedestrian flow before stopping.
If a companion does not want to cross, finish on one bank. A restaurant looking attractive across the water is not a reason to insist. Consider its actual approach before choosing it.
CHAPTER 05
Handle the gap between dinner and night views
You need not wait beside the river until lights appear.
Know the return entrance in daylight. After dinner, reconsider whether transport and weather still support staying. Finish with a daytime view if needed; a photograph does not promise tonight’s lighting.
Do not fill all waiting time with more walking. Rest where permitted or continue onward. If conditions worsen, reduce the riverside stay and check an open return route.
CHAPTER 06
Crossing the bridge changes your starting point
Return from your present bank, not the first saved route.
Locate your bank before selecting Daegu Dongchon Station. Decide whether to recross the same bridge; do not shorten the route through an unconfirmed crossing or low path. Check that the meeting point is on the same bank.
Recalculate from the restaurant exit if dinner was your final stop. Finishing the meal is not boarding time. Protect the return margin before another night photograph.
